This exhibition from the collection of the Lithuanian Photographers‘ Union will be an opportunity to remember photography from Soviet times. Documentary images that were not expected to be in art exhibitions just record the obligatory events from the post-war period, the Khrushchev era and stagnation and every day reality inserted among them. During each period the authorities are trying to reconstruct something thus deconstructing what has been done before; therefore, photography is filled with signs of the already non-existing way of life. Now it is interesting to observe how the utopia of good life created ‘on commission’ betrays itself by the inconsistencies between reality and ideology. The entire exhibition is an attempt to look at the past from the point of view of the all deconstructing present.
