Accessibility

The CAC is committed to being welcoming, inclusive, and accessible to all visitors. If you have any questions or would like support in planning your visit, please contact our Curators of Education and Community Engagement at [email protected]

Following the renovation works completed in autumn 2021, the CAC building has become more accessible, and we continue working to improve access and visitor experience across our spaces. We look forward to seeing you!

Proof of disability grants both the visitor and their carers free access to all the CAC’s exhibitions and events (lectures, discussions, book launches, etc.).

The width of all the doorway passages in CAC is in compliance with the latest requirements. Blind and partially sighted visitors and those with motor disabilities are advised to bring their carers

The main entrance is at street level and provides step-free access to the front desk and Reading Room. The Cinema and exhibition halls are located on the first floor and can be accessed via the lift, located immediately to the left of the entrance. Wheelchair-accessible toilets are available on the first floor and in the basement, though please note that the basement level is accessible by stairs only. Please find the floorplans here.

Information about captioning and subtitles for films is available on the webpage for each exhibition or event. Please contact us in advance if you would like to request sign language interpretation for an event.

Blind and partially sighted visitors are welcome to visit with a companion or personal assistant if desired.

The CAC will soon introduce visually-impaired-friendly wayfinding markings throughout the building. Large-print exhibition information is available on request – please ask a member of staff for assistance.

Guide dogs and other registered assistance dogs are welcome throughout the CAC. Water for assistance animals is available at the front desk upon request.

Please get in touch if you would like to organise tours or workshops tailored to visitors with specific access requirements or disabilities.
