The discussion ‘Fair Remuneration in the Broader Context of Artist-Institution Relations’, taking place the previous evening at the Contemporary Art Centre, will be followed by a semi-open roundtable discussion at the Sapieha Palace. Participants will include representatives from the Contemporary Art Centre (CAC), Bozar Centre for Fine Arts (Belgium), Mudam Luxembourg – Musée d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean (Luxembourg), Serralves Foundation (Portugal), TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes (Spain), Triennale Milano Teatro (Italy), If I Can’t Dance (The Netherlands), and the Munch Museum (Norway). Professionals from the Lithuanian performing and visual arts scenes are warmly invited to join us.

This event builds on questions raised by Belgian sociologist Pascal Gielen, which are discussed in the forthcoming publication, Decreation: Performing Strategies in Repressive Liberal Times (working title). Developed in collaboration with the institutions taking part in the roundtable, the book will be released by Valiz in 2027. The publication asks how art institutions might suspend automatic operational models in order to create space for forms of cultural value that cannot easily be measured through metrics. It proposes the institution not simply as a service provider or a representational platform, but as a form of public infrastructure. Participants will receive additional information about the publication and discussion themes via email following registration.

Admission is free, but registration is required: click here. The discussion will be held in English.
