3 pm Saturday 5 July at the Contemporary Art Centre (CAC)
Join us for an artist talk with Piotr Bury Łakomy, whose solo exhibition ‘Garden Exit’ is currently on view at the CAC. This event is a unique opportunity to hear the artist discuss the ideas behind his work, his approach to materiality, and the broader conceptual frameworks that inform his practice.
During the talk, Łakomy will reflect on the evolution of both his work and his studio, named ‘Fenix’, where he has been based for over a decade. The artist conceives of Fenix not just as a workspace but as a living organism that co-exists with his artworks. – a milieu in which he forms relationships with materiality and temporality. The ongoing tension between the artificial and the natural, a recurring theme in his work, is reflected in the studio itself, which mirrors the dynamic between how the works shift and change in relation to their environment.
The event will also include an opportunity to view a selection of photographs from the artist’s personal archive, videos, and several objects brought directly from his studio.
The event will be moderated by exhibition curator Edvardas Šumila and held in English.
