Dignity is the omnipresent condition of creativity and contemporaneity, a need that just doesn’t wear off and is no longer possible to ignore. Contained within it is the sense that jokes are over, but that does not make things instantly unfun. Instead, it allows us to rethink – through ourselves, others, our external and internal worlds – the failed economic hopes and communal needs of the present, the expectations of our parents, the meaning of protest and retro-whirlpools of art history. All that makes up and enforces everyone’s personal and our shared backbone in the face of unpredictable processes and powers.

JCDecaux Award is a cycle of yearly exhibitions established in 2016 by the Contemporary Art Centre and JCDecaux, aiming to encourage young Lithuanian artists to create new works, facilitate their presentation in Lithuania and abroad as well as bring contemporary art to a wider audience and the general public. The five artists participating in the JCDecaux Prize exhibition have been selected through an open call. The winner will be awarded a prize of 3000 Euros, courtesy of JCDecaux.
