This exhibition forms a retrospective of Vytautas E. Čekanauskas’s (b. 1930) studio practice; one of the most important Lithuanian architects of the 20th century. Vytautas Čekanauskas has created many buildings which are an inseparable part of the architectural face of Vilnius.

For example, in collaboration with V. Bredikis, he produced the general plan of Lazdynai, Vilnius’ large-scale residential area (1968-73). Vytautas Čekanauskas is also the architect of the building of the Contemporary Art Centre. The vast documentation of his architectural projects – sketches, drafts, drawings, models, photographs – are presented in the exhibition.

Vytautas E. Čekanauskas has received numerous prizes for his work. He still continues his practice of an architect and teaches at the Vilnius Academy of Arts.
