Wednesday 16th December at 7.30 pm at CAC Cinema
Violeta Sallonen, the alter ego of dancer Austėja Vilkaitytė, began as a character of a woman who dances alone, wears a purple nightgown and shares the heirloom, memories and promises of her life in Fabijoniškės and Justiniškės, Vilnius sleeping-disctricts. She carries out rituals of de-substantiation. A ritual of de-substantiation reveals an object’s essence through other, non-material means. In the process of telepathic dance Austėja Vilkaitytė extracts the meanings of objects typical to life and households in the urban districts – she dances textures, flower bouquets, a hair straightener – through their external sensations, dance movement and her own telepathic connection with objects and the audience. Violeta Sallonen. External sensations is a new dance performance by Austėja Vilkaitytė, created in the CAC Cinema.
