A workshop excercising the voice, expressions of agrement and disagreement, of care and love but also vocal masks of everyday use.
Between private and public. Between extreme engagement of the crowd and a wall of idifference and powerlessnes. Between lungs and throat, a resonating skull bones, between one breath and another. Between air and electricity. Between the walls as acoustic screens, reverberating. Between you and me.
Edka Jarząb is a performer, poet, sound artist and activist. She is interested in voice as a bridge between the public and private sphere; listening, singing as well as improvisation as a practice of social resistance. Practicing art in 1:1 scale, choosing social situations as a material with transformative power, streets as a space of affirmation. She studies the sonosphere of protests and demonstrations as well as organizes sound walks, workshops and vocal warm-ups before street demonstrations.
She studied hindustani raga musical system in Varanasi and learned Deep Listening with Pauline Oliveiros. Practicing extended voice techniques and singing traditional songs from the the East of Europe.
This workshop is a part of the Waiting for Another Coming finissage event program in Vilnius. The second episode of this exhibition will open on October 25, 2018 in Warsaw.
