PIT – Perform Inform Transform

‘Perform Inform Transform: Participatory Performance in Art Museums’, or PIT, is a multi-year European initiative that aims to strengthen the recognition and dissemination of performance art. By proposing new paradigms of participatory and intergenerational engagement, performances can nurture and deepen relationships between citizens, museums, and art institutions across Europe.

At the same time, the production, circulation, and presentation of performance works raise a range of ethical, environmental, technical and artistic challenges. Through newly commissioned performances, professional workshops, research activities, film screenings, and discussions taking place across six European countries, PIT provides a platform to reflect on these questions and propose innovative ways to engage and activate our bodies within museum spaces.

The project has received a three-year grant from the EU Creative Europe Programme under the ‘Cooperation Project’ strand. Its primary partners are the Bozar Centre for Fine Arts of Brussels (Belgium), Mudam Luxembourg – Musée d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean (Luxembourg), Contemporary Art Centre (Lithuania), Serralves Foundation (Portugal), TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes (Spain), and Triennale Milano Teatro (Italy).

As part of this project, the Contemporary Art Centre will present new performances by European artists involving co-creation and audience engagement.
